Organist/Pianist Reggie Thomas returns to the Jazz St. Louis stage on the Hammond B3 and is joined by 7-String Guitarist extraordinaire, Rick Haydon and Chicago based Drummer, George Fludas. The Organ, Guitar, Jazz Trio promises to bring an energetic, riveting style of selections of that you are certain to enjoy.
Reggie Thomas has returned to the St. Louis area since recently retiring from ten years as Coordinator of Jazz Studies at Northern Illinois University and a three year tenure as Professor of Jazz Piano at Michigan State University. He currently holds the “Counts Seat” with the Legendary Count Basie Orchestra, performs with the Chicago based group Trio Nexus, the Chicago Jazz Orchestra and a great number of other jazz legends. He is recorded with his wife Mardra Thomas along with a number of other artists.
Guitarist/Rick Haydon continues to captivate audiences whether sharing the stage with artists like John Pizzarelli from their“Just Friends” recording, Herb Ellis and Mundell Lowe to performing alongside Bucky Pizzarelli in sold-out concerts. He has been a powerful leg of the OGD tripod for over twenty years. Rick's contributions to the jazz landscape are unparalleled. Haydon is Professor Emeritus at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and boasts a rich legacy as a stalwart in jazz education and performance. During his tenure at SIUE he served as Director of Jazz Studies and spearheaded the Guitar and Recording Programs.
Drummer, George Fludas is delighted to return to the Jazz St. Louis stage. He’s based in Chicago and continues to tour with other top names in jazz. Fludas is a foundational member of the intimate group “Trio Nexus”, he also firmly holds down this intimate, powerful seat with OGD and solidly holds down the drum set with full jazz orchestras. Fludas can be heard on numerous CDs as a sideman with Ray Brown, Eric Alexander, Monty Alexander, Kyle Asche, Geof Bradfield, Scott Burns, Bobby Broom, Lin Halliday and The Chicago Jazz Orchestra. He’s heard all over the county and in other parts of the world.
